Responsible use of WhatsApp Business

Last updated: 12 August 2026

Agenly is the booking website for a salon: the client chooses the service and time on the business’s own page, and the appointment goes into its calendar. WhatsApp Business Platform is the channel used to notify that client of the appointment she has booked herself. This page summarises how we use the platform, what messages we send, how consent is obtained and what practices we do not allow.

What Agenly does

Agenly is a booking platform for beauty salons, hairdressers and similar businesses. Each contracting business publishes its own booking page on a subdomain of agenly.io, with its services, its team and its hours. The client chooses a time, verifies her phone with a code and, if the business requires it, pays a deposit; the appointment is recorded in the business’s calendar. WhatsApp is not the product: it is the channel through which the notice of that appointment goes out.

Integration with Meta’s official API

Agenly sends messages through Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Platform API, with no unofficial automations (such as automated WhatsApp Web, scrapers or solutions that breach WhatsApp’s terms of use). The number that is connected is always the business’s own number, and the business keeps control of its account at all times.

Types of messages we send

The messages Agenly sends over WhatsApp are limited to the operational management of a specific appointment: the reminder sent the day before, at the time the business chooses, and the confirmation or change notices for that same appointment. All of them go out using utility-category templates previously approved by Meta. We do not send promotional messages, mass campaigns, or messages to contacts who have not booked or given their consent.

How to connect your number

Every business that uses Agenly connects its own WhatsApp Business number — we do not share a single number between clients. The business links its number by following Meta’s official process (Embedded Signup), a guided flow of about 10 minutes, and keeps control of its account and its number at all times. The connection is optional: the booking page works without it, and the only thing that then isn’t sent is the reminder.

Requirements for the number

To link a number to WhatsApp Business Platform: (1) the number must not already have an active WhatsApp account — if it does, it is deleted before continuing; (2) it must be able to receive SMS or calls for Meta’s verification code; (3) it can only be linked to one WABA (WhatsApp Business Account) at a time; (4) it must belong to the business. These requirements are imposed by Meta, not Agenly.

End client opt-in

Messages are only sent to people who (a) have started a conversation with the business through WhatsApp Business, or (b) have given explicit opt-in to receive communications relating to their appointment or the service they have contracted. The usual route is the second: the client books herself on the business’s page and provides her phone number, which is verified with a code before the booking is confirmed. That opt-in is a contractual requirement Meta imposes in its Business Messaging Policy; it is not the legal basis for sending the messages. Under the RGPD (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR), the reminder for an appointment the client has booked herself relies on the performance of the contract between her and the business (art. 6.1.b). The controller of that data is the contracting business; Agenly, as processor, generates and keeps the opt-in record on its behalf and makes it available when needed, for example during a Meta review or a request from a supervisory authority.

Anti-spam policy

Agenly expressly prohibits using the platform to send spam, unauthorised mass campaigns or messages to contacts without prior opt-in. Businesses that violate these conditions may have their access suspended, in addition to any action Meta takes independently against their number.

Transparency about the use of AI

In addition to appointment notices sent with approved templates, Agenly offers a conversational assistant (guided or AI-based) that the establishment activates per channel and that only takes part in conversations started by the client. It always identifies itself as such (“Agenly for [business name]”), plainly confirms that it is a bot when a client asks directly, does not pretend to be a person, and does not make decisions affecting health, safety or contractual matters without human supervision from the establishment, which can pause it and take back the conversation at any time.

Compliance with Meta’s policies

Agenly is designed and operated to comply with Meta’s WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy and Commerce Policies, as well as applicable European legislation — the RGPD and the LSSI-CE (Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce Act). If we detect a use that breaches these rules by a client business, we act according to the procedure described in the Terms of Service.
